Epoxy Flooring

Overview

Epoxy flooring is a multi-layer coating system built from a two-part epoxy resin and hardener that chemically cure into a single, seamless surface bonded directly to your concrete slab. Done right, it starts well before the first coat goes down: the concrete is diamond-ground or shot-blasted to open its pores, cracks and pitting are repaired, and any moisture issues are addressed so the coating has a clean, sound surface to bond to. Skipping this step is the single biggest reason cheap epoxy jobs peel and bubble within a year or two.

How It's Done

  1. 1Inspect the slab and test for moisture issues before quoting the job
  2. 2Diamond grind or shot blast the concrete to properly open the pore structure
  3. 3Repair cracks, pitting, and joints so the new surface doesn't inherit old damage
  4. 4Apply the base coat epoxy resin at the correct mil thickness
  5. 5Broadcast decorative flake or quartz for color and texture, if selected
  6. 6Apply a polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat for UV stability and abrasion resistance
  7. 7Walk the finished floor with you and cover care instructions before we leave
